Loving You No More

I have been seriously stressing since Friday afternoon. Let me tell you what happened.

My beautiful car, Lucille, broke down on me. Luckily she broke down a block from my office in Baltimore so (1) I wasn’t stranded and (2) I could update my boss of my current situation. I still needed to get home though. Enter in a towing company. Do you know how much it is to have a vehicle towed from Baltimore down to DC? Yeah.

I dropped Lucille off at a place that I like and trust with her. They looked at her and told me what needed to happen. I ok’d the work and proceeded to put out as many positive vibes as I could to make sure she was good to go by Monday. Well…

Monday afternoon comes. I get the call that I was waiting for. It appears that yes, the major work that needed to be done fixed the underlying issue of my car not turning over. Lucille starts now. The catch? She’s running on three cylinders. Not good at all!

So what happened? My timing belt broke. I needed to replace the timing belt, the tensioner, and the water pump to get Lucille started again. THEN they could see what damage the TB break did. Obviously, that break did some major havoc on my engine head. They’re quoting more then two grand for a replacement engine. F*ck that! I might as well get a new car!

After the news Monday afternoon I kind of shut down for a little while. After that I went in search of a new car. I also started looking at other options as well. All of this saddened me. I will not get into the details of this. I am still working through it.

I am coming to the realization that all of this needed to happen. I will get into WHY at a later time. Again, I am still working through it. Once I’m there then things will be that much more clearer. I will also be able to speak on it without breaking down into tears. It’s been nothing but waterworks since Friday afternoon for me.

I can tell you one thing. I think that I am done with VWs. I’ve always wanted to experience being a VW owner. It’s safe to say that I’ve experienced a very accurate account of what many other VW owners go through.
