I know I’ve plastered it all over my personal Facebook timeline, but this may be the first time I’ve mentioned it here. I injured my right foot during a Salsa performance back in March. Speaking to a podiatrist friend of mine, I had a possible stress fracture. X-rays were recommended which he could not provide. Ok.
I made an appointment to get the recommended x-rays done on Thursday of this week with another podiatrist. The good news is nothing showed up on the x-ray. The bad news is nothing showed up on the x-ray. WTF!
The podiatrist suspects that I have tendinitis, stress fractures, or both. These conditions do not show up on x-rays. In order for me to be sure I’d have to have an MRI. Not really in the cards at this particular moment. The best route is to move forward with treatment and see what happens.
Treatment:
- Rest
- Ice – 15 minutes on, 30 minutes off multiple times a day
- Rest
- A short walking boot to aid in healing
- Rest
I’m being a smartass and listing REST three times because I obviously don’t know what that word means. Since I have no car, I do A LOT of walking. I asked if this was OK with the boot. The podiatrist was like, “Sure…” and in a sort of ‘I wouldn’t recommend it’ tone explained that I needed to be careful of possible knee, leg, and hip issues with excessive walking. Other than that, “Go for it. As long and as far as you want.” Sigh. OK.
So, I’ll be pretty gimped out at home in my stylish boot for a while. No dancing. No yoga. No Bodyrock. No fun. For at LEAST two weeks and at MOST two months. Sigh.
I need to figure out how I can work out with this boot. I need to have SOME sort of activity. Google here I come…..
