Hello, my name is Kionda, and I’m a Deal Groupie!
I love, love, LOVE Groupon and LivingSocial deals. They are just so enticing to the eye, and since I was looking to get into the advertised activities anyway, they are light on the wallet. If you ask me I don’t really use them enough. I really don’t. Let me explain.
I get alerts for the Groupon deals every morning at 1008am. I have no idea why at that time but that’s when I get them. When the alert comes in I check them out. If I see something of interest that I think someone would like I’ll share it on Facebook. If it’s something that I’m totally into then I’ll purchase if I can make it work. I’ve been doing this for about a year and a half now? Yeah, that sounds about right. I’ve purchased six Groupons within that time. Do you want to know how many I have redeemed? NONE!
Here’s the deal.
All of these deals were purchased before my car broke down. The majority of the deals were located on the outskirts of the DC Metro area such as Herndon (VA), Olney (MD), and Gaithersburg (MD). Not very convenient to get to these places using public transport. It would take hours and service stops running after a certain time. There’s another Groupon that I purchased as a set. A four course dinner for two at an Italian restaurant in Dupont Circle. I had plans for that one. Circumstances which inhibited me from redeeming this deal came up. My second choice was to give it to a friend and his new girlfriend. No dice there. The deal was non-transferable. Damn!
All of these deals have expired with the exception of one. It’s a craft beer and cheese tasting for two in Rockville, MD. I purchased this deal for my birthday this month. I still have the issue of transportation. No worries. I will volunteer someone to take me there. It IS a tasting for two. Besides it’s my birthday!
As far as LivingSocial is concerned I use them all the time. Mostly for their instant deals on food. Sushi, Indian, Thai, pizza, and any other cuisine you can think of. Even alcohol which is always good in my book. It’s normally there. The thing with instant deals is it’s only for that day and only between a certain time period. For example, you can purchase a deal at a steak place to get half off food between 5p and 2a. Pretty sweet!
I vow to do better with my Groupon deals. None of this letting them expire crap. That kind of defeats the purpose of the deal. There is always someone to redeem the deals with. I just need to keep the activities a little closer to home.
Are any of you as much of a deal groupie as I am? Do tell! We addicts need to stick together. Lol.
