For those of you that do not know, I love Salsa. Love to dance it. Love to listen to it. Love to move to it. It’s beautiful. It’s fun. It’s a workout! Lol.
I have been dancing it for years but just recently got serious about it this past February. It was my birthday present to myself. I’m finding as many opportunities that I can to hone my skills in this Latin dance.
Naturally, I will have some questions/concerns. For now I only have one.
When you’re out dancing at a Salsa venue, is it ok for a gentleman to fill up the majority of your dance card…for multiple songs in a row?
I ask this because this has happened to me at least for the most recent nights that I’ve been out dancing. Both gentlemen – two different venues – had me on the floor for at least three songs in a row of continuous dancing. It was only three songs because I excused myself for some ‘ME’ time to rest and give other gentlemen a chance to dance with me. That only lasted about one song before these gentlemen were back for another three song marathon dance.
Are these gentlemen hogging my dance card? I thought that the proper etiquette was one dance to one song. Am I wrong?
What say you? Any dancers out there that can shed some light on this situation?
